Lisa N. Powell, DMD, MS, PA
Dr. Lisa Powell was born and raised in New York. She began her career in dentistry by completing the dental hygiene program at the State University of New York, at Farmingdale. It was then she decided to continue her education and pursue a career in Dentistry. She then completed her dental education at the University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine in 1995. She then attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill and completed a residency program specializing in Prosthodontics in 1998. This is a three-year certificate of advanced study with a Master's Thesis.
Dr. Powell opened her office in Cary in 1998. She has lived in the area since 1995, is married and has three children, two daughters and a son.
What is a Prosthodontist?
Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth. After completeing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive three additional years of specialized training in an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited graduate education program. This advanced training provides a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth and the creation of tooth replacements.
Prosthodontists are highly trained in state-of-the-art technologies and procedures for treating many diverse and complex dental conditions and esthetics. These include crowns, veneers, complete and partial dentures, dental implants, continuing care and cosmetic related procedures.
