ZOOM! is a chair side bleaching process that lightens the discoloration of tooth enamel through the use of a special light and a whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide.  First, a protective coating is painted on to the patient's gums surrounding the treatment area.  This protective coating is allowed to harden, and serves to shield the gums.  The whitening gel is then applied, and a special light is applied to enhance the whitening process. This light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth.
